About Dropshot
Back in 2017, a young Ed Savitt decided to pack in his successful property development job to pursue his passion for coffee and make a career as a coffee connoisseur and business owner. This isn’t a story of some bull-headed corporate dude who dreamed big and threw money at the ambition to get to the top quickly, but impressively Ed went back to basics working as a barista, as floor staff, doing the day-to-day coffee grind (pun intended) to humbly learn all the tricks of the trade from the bottom up.
Fast forward one year later (of serious hard graft!), DropShot Specialty Coffee was born, in Southfields, serving up the sickest coffee in south-west London, alongside a great brunch menu to boot. The name DropShot is a nod to the area’s sporting history of Wimbledon tennis.
Since June 2018 when the first DropShot graced South London, the business has gone from strength-to-strength opening up in East Putney, Wimbledon Park, and most impressively Ed’s coffee journey came full circle when he took over the Ground Coffee Society cafe on the Lower Richmond Road near Putney Bridge - the place where he started his career as a barista - and rebranded it DropShot. So let’s do the maths, DropShot in four locations in five years - you don’t get those statistics serving up crap coffee!

At DropShot supplies come from Ground Coffee Society, who now focus on coffee roasting and events. You can get your caffeine fix from the classics flat white, cappuccino or long black, and if you want it cold then get refreshed and wake up with drinks such as a cold brew or iced latte. There’s a great selection of juices (which you can make your own combo!), teas and smoothies. You can satisfy your inner hipster with a beetroot or turmeric latte, as well as treat yourself to a tipple with an espresso martini or cold beer.
Call yourself a foodie…
You must check out the brunch menu. Ed, king of the puns, has imaginatively used the tennis theme to name dishes on the food menu. You will find dishes like The Smash (avocado on toast), The Advantage (selection of baps) and The Forehand (granola and yoghurt bowl). A firm favourite of ours is The DropShot, which is undoubtedly the best brunch style fry-up you’ll find south of the river. Whatever dish you choose to relish, you know the food will be cooked with thoughtfully selected fresh ingredients.
Not just coffee, but community…
DropShot are very much involved in their local community, making them a cornerstone of SW London. They have hosted baby health and safety workshops for Newborn and Beyond, as well International Women’s Day events. DropShot have also partnered up to support local businesses such as Gym in the Park. Furthermore, in a market where finding a retailer to stock products can be extremely difficult, DropShot are stocking brands such as local candle makers, Earth and Sister, and of course now LDNA!
